Mastering the Madness: 3 Keys to Starting Your Week Strong
No matter what your Monday morning routine looks like, work life balance is important to finding peace. If you’re anything like me, Monday mornings can sometimes feel like a whirlwind. But I’ve found three simple yet powerful keys to help you kickstart your week with a smile, no matter what life throws at you. So grab your coffee (or tea, or matcha latte – you do you!) and let’s dive in. By the way, if you’re interested in the Whistler Real Estate Market – let’s connect! This post is all about Morning Routines, Work Life Balance and Finding Peace. #1 Morning Routine: Get Outside and Soak Up the SunPicture this: it’s early Monday morning, the sun is just peeking over the horizon, and you’re taking a leisurely stroll with your furry friend by your side. Bliss, right? Well, according to the wise words of Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., soaking in that morning sunlight can do wonders for your mood and energy levels. So, within the first 15 minutes of waking up, step outside and let that sunshine work its magic. Whether it’s a quick 5-minute jaunt on clear days or a longer 20-30 minute stroll on overcast mornings, trust me, your mind and body will thank you for it.Living in Whistler, I’m lucky to have nature’s playground right in my backyard. With a world class skiing and pristine hiking trails just a stone’s throw away, starting my day with a breath of fresh mountain air sets the tone for positivity and productivity.#2 Work Life Balance: Celebrate Small Wins and Practice GratitudeNow, let’s talk about gratitude – the secret sauce to finding joy in the little things. Take a moment to reflect on yesterday’s victories, no matter how small they may seem. Maybe you aced that client meeting or received a heartwarming gesture from a friend. Acknowledge those wins and let them fuel your momentum for the day ahead. When life throws you a curveball. As I was basking in gratitude during my morning walk, a rather unexpected encounter threw a curveball my way – a friendly neighborhood dog decided to mark its territory on me! He literally peed on me! What the heck??! Talk about a wake-up call – Ha! But hey, life’s full of surprises, right? Instead of letting this mishap ruin my mood, I chose to laugh it off (and wash it off) and focus on the bigger picture. After all, what’s a little pee stain compared to the blessings that surround me?#3 Finding Peace: Embrace Peace and Let Go of the RestIn a world full of distractions and activity, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos. But amidst the noise, remember to choose peace above all else. Whether it’s dealing with a quirky neighbor or navigating the ups and downs of small-town living, I’ve found its paramont to pick your battles. Life’s too short.I found this to be true over Christmas, when my Mom faced some health challenges. Full of life and the picture of health, she was unexpectedly diagnosed with lung cancer. Just like that, my world stopped. But after the initial shock and knowing she is in good hands getting the treatment she needs, I let the rest go. Finding peace and being peaceful for my Mom was (for me) the best way forward. Finding peace is paramount. So, as I walked back home with Winnie in tow, I made a conscious decision to let go of any lingering frustrations about my “ruff” start to the day. And the dog owner’s lack of apology? Water under the bridge. Life’s too short to dwell on minor inconveniences when living in Whistler, there’s so much to be thankful for.By the way, if you’re interested in the Whistler Real Estate Market – let’s connect! Conclusion:In the end, mastering the madness of Monday mornings boils down to one simple truth: it’s not about avoiding obstacles, but rather, how we choose to overcome them. So, let’s kickstart our week with a dose of sunshine, a sprinkle of gratitude, and a whole lot of peace. Here’s to embracing the chaos and finding joy in the journey.Until next time, keep shining bright! This post was all about Morning Routines, Work Life Balance and Finding Peace. Market Update January 2024 | Whistler Real Estate
Let’s dive into what is currently happening in the Whistler Real Estate Market for January 2024. Let’s go! By the way, if you’re interested in recreational property in Whistler – let’s connect! January Whistler Real Estate Statistics: If you think the market feels ‘confused’ – I would totally agree with you.One minute it’s busy, the next it’s quiet – so what gives?! This post was is about the Whistler Market Update in January 2024 Market Dynamics: Last month Whistler experienced a slight increase in market activity when compared to our sluggish December. The lack of snow and stagnant interest rate environment is keeping Whistler in what feels like a holding pattern. 1. What’s Selling?Townhouses and Condos under $2,000,000 is the front runner (again). This includes a mix of revenue properties such as hotels & condos, as well as residential properties. Detached homes (chalets) are still the slowest to sell, just 5 sales in January. 2. Who is Buying?Buyers with equity, inheritances or access to funds from the bank of Mom and Dad are common themes this month. While Sellers with properties priced at or above market conditions a few months ago are now beginning to have a change of heart and undergoing price reductions. Foreign Buyer Ban: The Federal government has extended Canada’s Foreign Buyer Ban policy from 2025 until 2027. Sadly, the ban has not appeared to improve housing affordability. Only about 1.1% of home sales in B.C. involved foreign buyers in 2021. Many see this extension as more political than practical. While Whistler remains exempt from the Foreign Buyer Ban due to its status as a resort municipality, the introduction of the Underused Housing tax last year has created additional challenges for foreigners seeking to own a vacation property (e.g., hotel, nightly rental, fractional ownership) through a corporation or trust. And its impact on local housing remains minimal since you can’t live in a hotel room or timeshare. Housing Density Legislation With Bill 44 in the works, the province’s housing-density legislation promises to unlock single home residential zoning to create tens of thousands of new homes across the province. The challenge will be whether developers will be enticed to build. In Whistler, building costs and available labor have always been issues, so it will be interesting to see just how affordable and feasible these new homes will be and when they will be built. Now enough of that – time to go play! The next Bank of Canada rate announcement is on March 6th.
